Travel Grant

About
Details
FOREA awards travel grants to eligible certified orthoptists traveling to scientific and educational congresses in North America to present their research. Part of FOREA’s mission is to encourage and support more clinical research from orthoptists in the area of amblyopia, binocular vision, strabismus, nystagmus, and eye movement disorders. Travel grants are not readily available to Certified Orthoptists in North America and FOREA offers these travel grants to encourage research by orthoptists and to promote the orthoptic profession.
In 2022 FOREA awarded three $500 (USD) travel grants for orthoptists to travel and present their research at the the TCOS Annual Meeting in June and the AACO Annual Meeting in October.

Due to our amazing donors, FOREA increased the amount of the travel grants this year! In 2023 FOREA will award two $750 (USD) travel grants for orthoptists to travel and present their research at the TCOS Annual meeting in June and two $750 (USD) travel grants for orthoptists to travel and present their research at the AACO Annual Meeting in November.

Interested in supporting FOREA's Travel Grants?
To be eligible, candidates must be scheduled to participate in a national AACO or TCOS orthoptic conference by delivering an oral presentation. Only the first author/speaker is eligible to apply. Grants will be awarded on a combined merit and financial need basis to Certified Orthoptists who are full members in good standing of either the AACO or TCOS. Applications will be judged by a panel of North American orthoptists. Merit will be judged by the quality of the submitted abstract. Financial needs will be judged by the level of employer support for educational travel at the applicant’s institution.

The application cycle for the TCOS Meeting is now closed. Congratulations to Lillian and Emma for winning this year's travel grants to the TCOS meeting!
