Details
FOREA provides travel grants to eligible Certified Orthoptists who are attending scientific and educational congresses in North America for the purpose of presenting their research. A significant aspect of FOREA's mission is to foster and support increased clinical research conducted by orthoptists in fields such as amblyopia, binocular vision, strabismus, nystagmus, and eye movement disorders. Travel grants are not readily available to Certified Orthoptists in North America and FOREA strives to address this gap by offering these grants. The aim is to encourage research endeavors among orthoptists and contribute to the advancement of the orthoptic profession.

With immense gratitude to our generous donors, FOREA is delighted to announce that we will be offering travel grants once again to deserving Certified Orthoptists. These grants enable recipients to travel and present their research at distinguished events such as the TCOS Annual Meeting and the AACO Annual Meeting. Each travel grant will amount to $750. We encourage you to revisit this page to discover the winners of the 2024 grants.

Interested in supporting FOREA's Travel Grants?
To be eligible, candidates must be scheduled to participate in a national AACO or TCOS orthoptic conference by delivering an oral presentation. Only the first author/speaker is eligible to apply. Grants will be awarded on a combined merit and financial need basis to Certified Orthoptists who are full members in good standing of either the AACO or TCOS. Applications will be judged by a panel of North American orthoptists. Merit will be judged by the quality of the submitted abstract. Financial needs will be judged by the level of employer support for educational travel at the applicant’s institution.

The application cycle for the AACO National Meeting will open June 19, 2024. Application Deadline is July 19, 2024.
